Blog Post #10 Brand Identity

Brand Identity is the image that a store or company is trying to promote within their business, for example their values. Such as we talked about in class Target vs Walmart. Target is seen as a store mainly promoting their sales towards modern individuals where Walmart promotes their sales towards families.  A store that I shop at could be Cabelas. I buy clothes there, tools and equipment etc. I would say that their brand identity would be trying to promote their sales to dedicated hunters and outdoorsmen. They consist of hunting supplies, fishing supplies, camping supplies, etc. They do kind of promote towards families by having a special place for good family deals. And of course they most definitely align theirselves with the conservative side of politics.
Within Cabelas I will buy certain types of hunting gear from specific brands such as OutfitHER because that brand specifically specializes in hunting clothing/ gear that is for women. And most of the time I have been able to find this gear at affordable prices, but also good quality, which is important to me cause it means that it will last, do it's job, and I can afford it, especially since I only work part time. But a brand at Cabelas that I do not buy is a brand called Sitka, I have heard great things about this brand but what really throws me off is the extremely high price. For an example a price for a jacket could be around $200-$300. Which is WAY out of what I would call an affordable cost. So by comparing these two brands I think it is safe to say that I value affordable prices, which is why I would align myself up with the cheaper but still quality merchandise.

  1. I think that you are absolutely correct that brands specifically advertise and target a select crowd. This is how brands like Sitka make their money. They don't have to sell a lot to everyone, just a few to a specific crowd. Yes, that brand is expensive but some people might think that Sitka is a very luxurious brand. Therefore people will see their clothing and want what only a select crowd will buy.
